Designing thoughtful learning experiences across corporate, educational, and community settings.

Hello, I'm Karen.

I've always been fascinated not just by what people learn, but by how they learn.

That curiosity first led me to study educational psychology and complete my CELTA certification. Today, it continues to shape the way I approach every learning project and remains at the heart of my work in learning experience design.

Throughout my career, I've designed and facilitated learning experiences across corporate, educational, and community settings. I've worked with hospitality professionals in Mexico, multilingual newcomers adapting to life and work in Canada, adults with developmental disabilities, and individuals navigating mental health recovery and workforce reintegration. Each experience has broadened my perspective and strengthened my appreciation for the diversity of human learning.

I enjoy work that combines curiosity, creativity, and problem-solving. Whether I'm designing a workshop, developing learning resources, or partnering with an organization to address a learning challenge, I'm motivated by the opportunity to create experiences that help people build knowledge, develop confidence, and apply what they've learned in meaningful ways.

Through Human Praxis, I share my work in learning experience design, instructional design, facilitation, and adult learning. It's a space to showcase projects, reflect on my practice, and continue exploring how thoughtful learning experiences can support meaningful growth.

My approach

Every project begins with discovery. I take time to understand the learners, the organizational context, and the goals the learning experience is intended to support before proposing solutions.

I enjoy collaborating with stakeholders and subject matter experts to clarify learning needs, uncover performance challenges, and translate complex information into learning experiences that are clear, engaging, and practical.

Whether I'm conducting a training needs analysis, designing a workshop, or developing learning resources, my goal is to create experiences that are accessible, relevant, and immediately applicable to real-world situations.

Ultimately, I believe effective learning isn't measured by what people know, but by what they're able to do with that knowledge.
